Knight Armour redux, invented by Troy Hurtubise for just $2000 apiece
This armored suit called the Trojan has withstood knives, bullets, light explosives, clubs, and even a round from an elephant gun, it sounds like quite the winner. Proclaimed to be the "first ballistic, full exoskeleton body suit of armor," Trojan is crafted from high-impact plastic lined with ceramic bullet protection over ballistic foam, and features nearly endless compartments, morphine / salt containers, knife and gun holsters, emergency lights, a built-in recording device, pepper spray, ingestible transponder for those "last resort" scenarios, and there's even a fresh air system powered by solar panels within the helmet. Mr. Hurtubise claims the 18 kilograms (40 pounds) suit is comfortable enough to make road trips in (yes, he tried it), and if any major military would take him up on it, they could reportedly be produced for "around $2,000 apiece." Now that's a bargain, folks. Check out more here

Space Debris, someone take the garbage out..

Between the launch of Sputnik on 4 October 1957 and 1 January 2008, approximately 4600 launches have placed some 6000 satellites into orbit, of which about 400 are travelling beyond geostationary orbit or on interplanetary trajectories.
Today, it is estimated that only 800 satellites are operational - roughly 45 percent of these are both in LEO and GEO. Read on here

First watch running on Windows Mobile 5 engine
Epoq, which has already had a video watch on the market for some time, has developed what is believed to be the first wristwatch running Windows Mobile 5. Its EGP-WP98B claims to have an OLED touchscreen, 1.28GB of memory, Wi-Fi networking, Bluetooth, VoIP support, and--get this--handwriting recognition. And a faux alligator wristband, of course. But as Mobile Magazine says, it might be a tad difficult to get full use out of Windows on a 1.4-inch display. Check it out here

Scary MS Vista Vid - a spoof???
The chorus goes a little something like this:
"If they have been waiting / No more hesitating / When they see the improvements in security / The desktop and mobility and productivity / They'll say 'Vista gotta get me some'"
A Microsoft spokesperson told ChannelWeb the video is a joke, and was developed as a way for its sales team to "poke fun at themselves a bit."
We hear you MS, loud and clear.

Well, the beta tag came off a few days ago as Apple launched its first ‘proper’ version of Safari, version 3.1. Read on here

LHC to unlock secrets of big bang
Scientists are all set to unlock the secrets of exactly how the universe began by using one of the world's largest and most expensive science machines -- the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
They will utilize it to recreate the conditions that existed just a fraction of a second after the big bang, that is the birth of universe, by smashing pieces of atoms together at high speed.
The 4.4 billion pounds new particle accelerator, which is buried 300 ft beneath the alpine foothills along the Swiss French border, is 17 miles long and up to 12 stories high. It can generate temperatures of a trillion degrees centigrade. Read in here and here..

The birthplace of the Web, Cern, which is based near Geneva, is now busy working on "the grid" that boasts speeds nearly 10,000 times faster than a typical Broadband connection, and that may soon render the Web obsolete.
