MS intros Telescope

You can now fly through the universe, viewing stars, planets and celestial bodies as an astronomer would, virtually, with the Worldwide Telescope by Microsoft.

The virtual service combines images and databases from every major telescope and astronomical organization in the world.

Microsoft says it is providing the resource for free in memory of Jim Gray, the Microsoft researcher who disappeared last year while on a trip to scatter his mother's ashes. The project is an extension of Gray's work. While writing this post, my copy of Telescope is downloading, so can't say for now how it compares to Google Sky or Celestia. Check it out here

Ok I did check it out. You can switch views to Earth, Sky, Planets, and Panorama. Looks and feels like Google Earth/sky though. Follow-up post later..

The device features a 2 megapixel camera with integrated flash. 5x digitial zoom is also supported. They are not ready to give in to Nokia, HTC so soon.. Check it out here

$ 2 Billion home for the Ambanis - The Antilia

Ok, so if you have it, flaunt it. This under-construction 'house', Antilia, is a twenty seven floor(490 ft or 149 mt) apartment building Mumbai for Indian businessman, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, whose family will occupy about 35,000 square feet.

Named after the mythical island in the Atlantic, Antilia, the building will have only 17 livable floors. It is designed by Chicago architects, Perkins & Will, is estimated to cost US$1 billion, and is inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. It is expected to be completed by September 2008.

Situated on a 4,532 sq. mt. plot at Altamount Road on the famed Malabar Hill, where land prices are upward of US$ 10,000 per square meter, the building will house parking for 168 cars, a movie theater for audience of fifty, living quarters on four floors and three helipads.

World's most powerful flashlight can fry eggs

Looking to buy a brrrright flashlight? This flashlight torch may fit the bill.

Currently being reviewed by The Guinness Book of World Records, The Torch is the world's brightest and most powerful flashlight. This flashlight is easily capable of melting plastic, lighting paper on fire within seconds, and if you want, frying an egg or a marshmallow on a stick! At 4100 lumens, it is really bright, but may not be much use since it only lasts 15 minutes. Moreover, isn't that a lot of energy being wasted in heat, rather than light !!??
