Google Launches Gmail Labs

Google has just launched Gmail labs and if you are on Gmail then you might have probably noticed a link right on top which says 'New! Gmail Labs'.

Log in and check it now, if you haven't already.

And what you need to do to get to the labs is go to settings and click 'labs'. And now you can try some features which are not robust enough to go online yet.

Have a ball.

Linkedin hit by 419 scammers, Social Service message

Be Warned !! 419 scammers are those people who send you mails about transferring large amounts of money they either found in an unclaimed bank account, or their 'deposed' uncle left in their custody.

In either case, it is a dangerous scam and some people have been hounded and even killed. It's simple, they work on your greed. If you fall for the trap, then that is it. People from many countries are known to be 419 scammers but the term originated from Nigeria where there is a penal code or something numbered 419 for embezzlement. Probably hence the term. Read about 419 here.

Now Linkedin, the famous professional networking site is facing threat from 419 scammers as warned here
" Users of the professional-oriented social networking site LinkedIn are being warned that scam artists are using the site to nab lucrative bank account information from naive victims, say security experts." by this news article here

Anti-gropers Jacket packed with an 80 KV jolt.

The No-Contact Jacket is a wearable defensive jacket created to aid women in their struggle for protection from violence. When activated by the wearer, 80,000 volts of low amperage electric current pulses just below the surface shell of the entire jacket. This exo-electric armor prevents any person from unauthorized contact with the wearer's body. If an assailant were to grab hold of the wearer the high voltage exterior would interrupt their neurological impulses which control voluntary muscle movement. The jacket is non-lethal and I would recommend one for all those women who use public transport and have to deal with perverts. Check out the website here.

Comcast owned by teen -|4><0R3R5 (hackers)

Comcast website was defaced by teenager hackers who called the admin at Comcast to inform him of the defacement but were snubbed and not taken seriously. This irked them further and they then redirected traffic and played with Comcast like it was marbles. They say, they could have saved user details and stolen their information but did not.

They are currently allegedly sleeping with their clothes on in anticipation of imminent arrest.

Gmail bugging me !!!

I just discovered this anomaly on the Gmail sign in page. When the page is loading it shows storage space as 2.5 GB as shown above, and then soon jumps to the 6.5 GB that it really is as shown below.

And it that were not enough, someone at GOOG hard-coded the trash page to read "No conversations in the Trash. Who needs to delete when you have over 2000 MB of storage?!"
Hello !! We have moved to 6.5 GB and hopefully will only go upward going forward. Here is a grab from the trash page.

Is someone from GOOG listening?

World's largest self portrait ....using GPS

The technique is described this way: "My pen was a briefcase containing the GPS device, being sent around the world. The paths the briefcase took around the globe became the strokes of the drawing."

He writes that the briefcase began a 55-day circumnavigation on March 17, ending up earlier this month back where it started in Stockholm, Sweden.(Courtesy DHL) He then downloaded the GPS information--the trip covered 62 countries on six continents--to his computer and made the self-portrait in a single stroke. Top 10 Google flops

Google is probably the biggest brand in the world and the most successful e-company today. But Google didn't get there without a few failures and a few risks--some of which have bombed considerably.

For example, remember the Google Accelerator, which was supposed to speed up Web surfing? And Google Answer. Google Video did so quite well and they went ahead and acquired Youtube to fill the void they could not do them selves. If you can't win 'em, buy 'em. Read on here

From www.notalwaysright.com

This is a nice blog dedicated to people who have had humorous interactions with their customers. Here is a sample post below..

He Wants the Google

Call Center | Unknown Location

Me: “How may I help you?”

Customer: “I’d like to buy a Google. How much is it?”

Me: “Well, Sir, you would have to buy an internet connection, like our DSL to–”

*cuts me off*

Customer: “I don’t want to buy your f****** DSL! I want Google. My friend told me it’s the best, so I want that!”

Me: *trying not to laugh* “Sir, Google is a search engine, you really need to buy a connection package first to–”

*cuts me off again*

Customer: “I want Google! Are you listening to me? GOOGLE! HOW MUCH IS IT?”

Me: *innocently* “Oh, my guess would be a few billions, sir.”

Customer: “What? That’s ridiculous!”

Me: “I agree. However, if you buy our DSL package for $**.**, you can use Google all you want and it’ll be FREE!”

Customer: “Really? Then why would anyone ever be stupid enough to want to buy Google?”

Me: “Beats me, sir.”
